Dancer Profile is an online tool which we are working to develop in order to help dancers keeps tabs on their current and past work history, as well as their dance training and education etc.
Typically as dancers progress they’ll steadily build a profile of what it is they’ve done, then use such historic information as a means to regularly apply for work within the dance industry. It’s fair to say that within the dance sector, profile and portfolio images along with a dancer’s personal statistics can and do play a major role in a dancers profile, as does the use and inclusion of showreels.
How Dancers Profiles are viewed along with the information they contain may more often than not perhaps be all that stands between a ‘yea’ or ‘nay’ in a dancer gaining an audition call, and as such, it’s vital something which is recognisable and can be easily referred to is created.
In actual fact, now, the phrase Dancer Profile is a term which is becoming widely used within the industry and as such dance companies now regularly use the Dancer Profile term when detailing public information about each of their individual dance company members.
In recognition of this, we’re now working to develop a Dancer Profile website so that all dancers far and wide have a central resource in which to manage their own Dancer Profile.
Our site will be niche and as the name may hopefully suggest will be only applicable to dancers, and those who used to be dancers and who remain in the industry in some capacity such as dance teachers, choreographers and so on.
It’s important to us that what we wish to create with Dancer Profile is by no means diluted, therefore we plan to regularly review profiles to ensure that they meet our terms of use.
Our intention is that we only wish to deal in the dance industry, and therefore we’re not planning to be a general casting agency, the likes of whom would also cater for general modelling work, singing and acting etc.
